Dr. N.M.P. (Naomi) de Ruiter

Dr. Naomi de Ruiter is an Assistant professor of psychology at the University College Groningen. Her work focuses on developmental questions regarding self and identity. Drawing from Complex Dynamic Systems, theoretical psychology, and discursive psychology, she adopts a constructivist approach to investigate process mechanisms of development and the process ontology of self. Her research is in part conceptual by nature, and in part empirical, using qualitative methodology.

As a member of the Young Academy Groningen, Naomi aims to facilitate interdisciplinary research at the University of Groningen. She works to support individuals' 'interdisciplinary literacy' needed to be successful in interdisciplinary research, focusing on interdisciplinary collaborations. She is the chair of the interdisciplinary working group (2022-2024), and a YAG board member since September 2024.
