Master Programmes
The Biomedical Sciences programme is strongly oriented towards the scientific background of health and disease and preclinical research. Students will study life processes and their abnormalities within the intact organism, in an interdisciplinary environment of basic scientific research at the faculty of science and engineering and the more medical oriented environment of the university medical center. Up to 75% of the master's programme consist of independent research projects in the following areas of expertise:

The transplantation applications of embryonic stem cells

How nutrition influences health

Diseases of the brain and nervous system

The biological aspects of emotional and affective disorders such as depression, anorexia nervosa and obesity

The molecular cellular biology underlying age-related pathologies
This Master's programme offers a Science, Business & Policy profile for students that want to focus on the business and policy side of science, and a Research profile. Within the programme students can follow the specialisation Biology of Ageing, which provides training as a researcher mainly in the field of ageing and age-related pathologies, and includes three track-specific compulsory modules:
