Master Programmes
The two-year Master programme Biology is for students who have a broad interest in biology and also for those who have a specific interest in science at the interface of different biology domains, such as ecology, marine biology, biomedical sciences and molecular biology. Students can focus on fundamental or applied research, or a combination of both. In consultation with a mentor, students design their own study programme tailored to their interests.

This Master programme includes a Research track that prepares for a career in academia, a Science, Business & Policy track for students that want to focus on the business and policy side of science, and a Specialization track Modelling in the Life Sciences.
Specialization track Modelling in the Life Sciences

This MSc track offers a unique opportunity to explore the interface between biology, medicine, mathematics, physics and computer science, and prepares students for cutting-edge research in the theoretical life sciences.
Research track
For the Research track courses may be selected from those offered by the three research institutions participating in biology education: Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute (GBB), Energy and Sustainability Research Institute Groningen (ESRIG) and Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences (GELIFES). GELIFES offers the following courses:
