Tuition fees

(Image: Tuition fees are often the same throughout all Dutch universities, and competitive compared to international degree programmes in other countries)

Tuition fees for students depend on their country of origin - from inside or outside of the EU/EEA. Fees are indexed each year by the Dutch government. If a student needs additional semesters to finish the programme, they will pay a proportional part of the extra yearly costs. The tuition fee does not include costs of travel, living, accommodation, insurance, books and readers.

Current tuition fees for the University of Groningen can be found here.

Students should transfer the tuition fee after confirming their acceptance and before the start of the academic year. Please be aware of the fact that exchange rates can vary greatly. Since the tuition fee and the costs of living are to be paid in Euro, always calculate the amount of money needed to participate in the programme in Euro, not in the currency of one's home country.

Many students inquire about scholarship opportunities, however these can be limited. We recommend that students anticipate the costs they will incur. For some, working and saving funds is a helpful way to financially prepare for an upcoming academic year. Some students also take study loans in their home countries so they can focus entirely on their studies during a 1 year LLM programme.
