Our candidates have been chosen. We are proud to present our three nominates for the fourth GDBC Thesis Award.
“Hi, I’m Caroline Touzin, and I’m honored to be named as a finalist for the GDBC Thesis Award in Digital Business. My passion with technology started early. As an only child, I often turned to the online world for connection and exploration. Watching the internet evolve over the years felt like opening up one world after another, each more fascinating than the last. That sense of wonder (along with a bit of wanderlust) eventually led me from Paris to the University of Groningen to study international business, a journey that has shaped my path in ways I did not see coming.
Arriving in Groningen, I found a place that encouraged both rigorous study and open-minded curiosity, which made me want to dive even deeper into digital innovation. It didn’t take long to realize that I wanted more than just theory. I wanted hands-on experience with data and technology to create something meaningful. So, I chose a blend of two degrees: an MSc in Technology and Operations Management, which grounded me in data analysis, and an MSc in Strategic Innovation Management, which taught me to tackle big-picture challenges. I recently graduated, and I’m grateful to say that this combination has prepared me to take on digital challenges from both the analytical and strategic sides.
My studies all came together in my research project, ‘Does Blockchain Governance Matter for Performance?’ where I started to explore if blockchain governance was more than just a buzzword. I decided to challenge myself by using Python and advanced NLP techniques to develop a tool that could analyze governance structures across hundreds of blockchain networks. The results weren’t always straightforward, but I started to see patterns suggesting that clear, structured governance really can strengthen transparency, resilience, and even financial performance. It made me realize that as blockchain technology reshapes industries, solid governance could be the key to making these networks both innovative and stable.
Sharing this project with the GDBC community is a true privilege. I’m excited to connect with others who are just as passionate about digital transformation and to keep exploring what’s possible. For me, this is just the beginning of a career focused on building a digital world where data-driven decisions lead to a more efficient, connected, and transparent future.”
