Department: Sustainable Health
Sustainable Health is as a social, individual and collective right of people based on the principles of universal access to healthcare and preventive medicine, equitably distributed in populations, and in harmony with the planet we live in, in order to maintain and improve the health of the current generation and others to come.
The Department of Sustainable Health at Campus Fryslân is committed at centring its academic activity on the exploration of the different determinants of multidimensional wellbeing, using an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach. Using mixed-method approaches, including quantitative and qualitative research methodology, human health is investigated in its broader meaning, including mental and social wellbeing. The relationship that people have with the natural environment, and how they affect one another's health and wellbeing is also central in academic activity.
