Erasmus+ Programme 2021-2027

The European Commission aims at a strong Higher Education sector in Europe in order to be able to compete with the rest of the world. International cooperation and mobility will strengthen Europe’s position and visibility in the world and increase competitiveness in Europe’s neighbouring area. The Commission facilitates this by providing scholarships to both European and non-European students and staff and by supporting university management and capacity building projects.

Erasmus+

The European programme for individual mobility and projects for Education, Training, Youth and Sports is called Erasmus+. The programme runs from 1 January 2021 till 1 January 2028.

In spring 2021, the new E+ programme 2021-2027 was launched. The Programme Guide contains all information on the programme. Many aspects of the previous programme are still in place, but there are some novelties (for instance short-term mobility and Blended Intensive Programmes) and new priorities.

The main priorities are:

  • Inclusion and Diversity
  • Digital Transformation
  • Environment and fight against climate change
  • Participation in democratic life

Erasmus Charter for Higher Education

In order to participate in the Erasmus+ programme, higher education institutions need to have received the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027, which lays down the rules and regulations of the programme for both mobility and international projects. The Erasmus Policy Statement, drawn up by the institution itself, is related to the Erasmus Charter.

The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) provides the general quality framework for European and international cooperation activities that a higher education institution can carry out under the Erasmus+ programme.
Furthermore, the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education stipulates that the institution will ensure equal access and opportunities for all participants, with particular attention to students and staff members who require additional support due to a functional impairment.

The Diploma Supplement (DS) is an important principle in the ECHE, which states that the outcomes of an Erasmus+ mobility will be recognised by the sending institution and mentioned in the Diploma Supplement which is awarded together with the diploma.

The transcript of records appears under article 4.3 in the Diploma Supplement.

On the website of the National Agency more information on Erasmus+ actions can be found.
