UG involvement in Erasmus+
The University of Groningen is very active in participating in the Erasmus+ programmes of the EU, alongside many international collaborations. In recent decades, we have successfully applied for the different programmes Erasmus+ has to offer:
In order to participate in the Erasmus+ programme, universities need to have received the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027, which lays down the rules and regulations of the programme for both mobility and international projects. The Erasmus Policy Statement, drawn up by the institution itself, is related to the Erasmus Charter.

Student and Staff Mobility
KA131 - Mobility for higher education students and staff between institutions in Programme countries.
The programme provides long-term (2-12 months) and short-term (5-30 days) study mobility options, as well as the possibility for internships abroad. For staff, teaching assignments and staff trainings are included.
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), providing innovative learning or teaching methods can be developed jointly by at least 3 institutions from 3 different countries.
KA171 – International Credit Mobility, for higher education students and staff between Programme and Partner countries. Incoming and outgoing study and staff mobility options with selected partners in countries not associated to the Erasmus+ programme.

European University network to promote Equitable Quality of Life, Sustainability, and global engagement through Higher Education Transformation.
The University of Groningen is a member of the ENLIGHT European University which brings together 10 research-intensive universities throughout Europe. ENLIGHT aims to create and integrate our institutions to facilitate mobility of students and staff and the sharing of resources to build opportunities for collaboration in teaching and learning, and research and innovation among the 10 partner institutions.
The ENLIGHT universities are: University of the Basque Country, University of Bern, University of Bordeaux, Comenius University Bratislava, University of Galway, Ghent University, University of Göttingen, University of Groningen, University of Tartu and Uppsala University.
