My research project concerns with how complex cognitive abilities may be built bottom-up through the “scaffolding” of environmental interaction. The sense of environment can be both natural and social. The initial focus of the project is primarily on implicit language acquisition, and also to see how language-specific skills can be generalised to other sensory modalities. What I hope to study is how implicit mechanisms can self-organise to generate explicit representations that are isomorphic (or at least adapting) to the external (dynamic and blending) environment.
