Dr. Stephen Peuchen is Information Manager at the IT Dept. of the of the University Medical Center Groningen (NL), responsible for Information Management of new IT services and management in the areas of Research, Education and Training. He obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry from the Department of Pathology of the VCU Medical Center in Richmond VA, U.S.A in 1990. He subsequently moved to the Institute of Neurology of University College London (UCL, U.K.) for a Research Fellow position in the Dept. of Neurochemistry. In his current position he spent more than 10 years on the policy development and implementation of major biobanks (incl. biobank information management systems) in Medicine and remains a national advisor on research policy in biobanking. Dr. Peuchen is a part-time lecturer in Research Methodology in the Master Programme of Transfusion Medicine of the Univ. of Groningen. One of his current interests is awareness and application of commercial Large Language Models (e.g. ChatGPT) to the IT domains of Research, Education and Training as well as its application for ICT professionals at large.
