N. (Nina) Hansen, Prof

Nina Hansen is Professor (adjunct) of Social and Cultural Psychology in the department of Social Psychology at the University of Groningen. She is a member of the executive committee of EASP (serves as treasurer). She currently serves as associate editor for Frontiers in Psychology (section cultural psychology) and consulting editors for Social Psychology and Comprehensive Results in Social Psychology. Her research centers on the social psychology of cultural change. She is interested in social, organizational, and cultural change that is caused by modernization in the Global South as well as in the context of migration (see research, projects). She was recently awarded a grant (2 Mio. Euros) by the Dutch Science Foundation together with an international and multidisciplinary team (Dutch Research Agenda, see projects). She is regularly consulted by different governments and organizations around the world and is an expert in developing theory-driven interventions and social impact evaluations of interventions with broad field experience in African, Asian, and Latin American nations. Originally from the North of Germany, she studied social psychology, business, international and European law, and sociology at the University of Göttingen, psychology at UC Berkeley, and received her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Jena (summa cum laude). After working as a postdoc at the University of Jena and visiting scholar at UC Berkeley, she moved to the Netherlands.
