Part of the University Minor ‘Astronomy through Space and Time’
- Observational Astronomy (2010 - present): Since the Blaauw Observatory on the Bernoulliborg has become operational, it has been used for several practical courses. I have spend countless evenings and nights supervising and teaching students at the observatory.
- Physics of Stars (2015 - present): This 2nd-year Bachelor course (5 ECTS) was designed from scratch and discusses basic astrophysics of stellar structure, radiative processes, stellar atmospheres, nucleosynthesis and stellar evolution
-
Linear Algebra for Artificial Intelligence and Computer Sciences (2013
and 2014) - Basic Detection Techniques (2011): I taught the module on optical and infra-red imaging techniques and used the Blaauw Observatory for tutorial sessions to study the adverse effects of the Earth’s atmosphere.
- Capita Selecta Dark Matter in Spiral Galaxies (2009 and 2011)
- Contemporary Research in Astronomy (2005 & 2006)
Students supervised:
- Erik Duisterwinkel and Laurens-Jan Soer: A control system for the Blaauw Observatory dome
