G.S. (Gerald) Leppert

Dr Gerald Leppert (PhD) is an economist and political scientist with twenty years of experience in research and evaluation. He received his PhD from the University of Cologne (Germany) on social risk management strategies in low- and middle-income countries.
He is Senior Economist of the Research for Impact team at the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA). He has strong expertise in state-of-the-art research and evaluation methods, ranging from rigorous impact assessments, mixed-methods and theory-based designs, to evidence synthesis. His thematic focus is on on climate change adaptation, social risk management, social protection and public health.
He worked as a senior evaluator and team leader at the Competence Centre for Evaluation Methods of the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval), as researcher the University of Heidelberg (Global Health), and the University of Cologne (Social Policy; Cooperative Studies).
