prof. dr. G.B. (George) Huitema
Career
George Huitema is Professor of Telematics (Telecommunication and Information Services, ICT and Management) at the University of Groningen. After receiving a PhD Degree in mathematics also from the University of Groningen in 1988 he joined KPN Research (TNO, 2003 - 2022). From 2001 Huitema has a position at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen.
Domain of Interest
His main research interest is Service Development, Management and Operations. That is, businesses, delivering innovative products/services face the challenge to set-up appropriate service management processes, systems and organization that meet demand for superior customer service, interworks in complex business eco-systems and deals with strong competition. The current application domain of the chair is digitalisation of the energy system and energy system integration. In the transition to a sustainable energy system with the uptake to higher TRL levels more and more focus will be needed for well thought Service Development.
