University Teaching Qualification (UTQ)
The University Teaching Qualification (UTQ or in Dutch, BKO) is a proof of pedagogic competence for teachers in academic education. All employees who teach courses at the University of Groningen are required to obtain this qualification.
The UTQ certification enhances and assures the quality of academic education by focusing on four main competencies of teaching:

UTQ Trajectories
At the University of Groningen, we offer two possible trajectories. Based on your submitted intake forms and intake meeting with a teaching coach, we will determine which trajectory fits your personal situation best. We offer two types of trajectories:

Regular UTQ trajectory
-
UTQ By Experience trajectory
Practical information
Target group
|
University teachers at the University of Groningen with a minimum of 0.2 FTE teaching tasks a year.

Study load
|
120-160 hours. The actual study load is variable, depending on your level of expertise at the beginning of the programme.

Duration
|
Minimum of 6 months and preferably within 2 years. You can complete the UTQ programme at your own pace.

Course fee |
The UTQ programme is free of charge, if you are a teacher at the University of Groningen and are contractually obliged to obtain the UTQ. If you are not employed at the University of Groningen, but teaching in Higher Education at another university/department, the course fee will be determined individually. |
UTQ Partial certificates
|
If you already obtained a UTQ partial certificate at another university in the Netherlands, you do not need to join the UTQ workshops and/or assignments that are related to partial certificate.
