Prof. Maria Antonietta Loi officially installed as a member of Dutch Royal Academy of Sciences (KNAW)!

In May 2022, the Academy already announced who the new members were. Today they were officially installed during a festive gathering. The 22 new members, including two foreign members, are now official members of the approximately 600 members of the Academy.

Academy members are leading scientists from all disciplines. A membership is for life. Check out Prof. Maria Loi presentation video here.

Prof. Maria Antonietta Loi elected Fellow of American Physical Society!

We as a group are very proud to announce that Prof. Maria Antonietta Loi has been elected as Fellow of the American Physical Society for her ‘seminal contributions to understanding and manipulating charge transfer and excitonic states in optoelectronic devices’. She is among the 163 (worldwide) new Fellows of 2020.

Herman Duim is awarded the 2020 MRS Spring Meeting Graduate Student Silver Award

The MRS Graduate Student Awards are intended to honor and encourage graduate students whose academic achievements and current materials research display a high order of excellence and distinction. MRS seeks to recognize students of exceptional ability who show promise for future substantial achievement in materials research.

Because of this commitment, MRS hosted a virtual competition for the following Graduate Student Award finalists and judges in July. The highly recognized achievement of the MRS Graduate Student Award is a direct reflection on the outstanding education provided by each recipient’s institution.

Our former group member Artem, who is now the proud CEO and founder of QDI Systems has won the Groningen Engineering Center (GEC) thesis prize for his PhD thesis. Congratulations!

Herman Duim’s cover attracts attention

With 2500 views in just six weeks after publication, Herman’s recent paper “Mechanism of surface passivation of methylammonium lead tribromide single crystals by benzylamine” made it into the top 5 of AIP publications according to the altmetric score. It even made it onto the cover of the latest issue of Applied Physics Review.
