FET 2018 International Workshop

FET International Workshop 2018 took place from August 20 – 24, 2018 in the center of Groningen. It was the ninth of a series of workshops. Previous meetings were held in Leiden, 2003; Baltimore, 2006; Braunwald, 2007; Sendai, 2008; les Diablerets, 2010; Princeton, 2012; Tokyo, 2014; and Minnesota, 2016.

This workshop brought together specialists working on field-effect control of the electronic properties of 2D materials and interfaces, including graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, and other layered compounds. It successfully aimed at addressing in depth the fundamental physics of these systems and emergent electronic functionalities.

The number of participants combined with the generous time schedule gave plenty of opportunities for face-to-face discussions. Moreover, the workshop offered young scientists the chance to present their work during the poster sessions and get in touch with leading researchers to discuss their results.
