External PhD
An external PhD student is defined as someone who performs his or her doctoral studies without being employed by (or having a training place) at the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society.
Anyone with a master’s or graduate degree may decide to pursue a PhD (see for the exact rules and regulations in this context the Regulations of the Conferral of a Doctorate). A professor must be willing to supervise the research project and the writing of the thesis, and to act as promoter. With regard to the admission to the promotion and the quality of the research and the dissertation, the same requirements apply as with the other PhD students. External candidates must also comply with the Ph.D. Regulations and the administrative procedure.
It is also possible to be considered as an external PhD without funding or scholarship.
External PhD students with a scholarship from their own country can apply at any moment throughout the year.
Please note that external PhD candidates with their own funding are required to follow the application procedure for the Graduate School. Admission to the Graduate School is assessed by the Admission Board.
