Faculty team participates in the Frits Kalshoven International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition
Date: | 03 April 2025 |

From the 3rd to the 7th of March 2025, three Public International Law LLM students, Eliška Vetýšková, Catherine Vrachatis ,and Richard Patassy, took part in the 18th edition of the Frits Kalshoven International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition, organised by the Dutch and Belgian Red Cross. Coached by Dr. Audrey Fino, Lecturer in International humanitarian law, Ms. Chiiun Miin Seah, PhD candidate, and assisted by research masters student Eva Rippe, and former participant Hendrik Drossler, the Faculty team underwent extensive preparation for the competition.
This year’s theme was starvation in times of armed conflict. In a week marked by hard work, sleepless nights and thought-provoking legal debates, the team went to the Hague to attend compelling presentations/lectures and participate in immersive role plays which placed them in the shoes of, for instance, military legal advisers and ICRC personnel. The last day saw the students pleading in a moot court against two other university teams, testing their legal knowledge, public speaking and advocacy skills to the fullest.
This experience could not have been made possible without the wonderful support of the Department of Transboundary Legal Studies of the Faculty of Law.
