Our Energy and Climate Law LLM students recently traveled to Brussels and the European Commission, and visited with staff from the Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) and the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER). These two entities are important to the European energy sector, as DG ENER is responsible for the EU's energy policy and DG CLIMA leads the European Commission's efforts to combat climate change at both the EU and international level.

The visit was part of the course Energy Investment and Trade Law. This course discusses the main principles relating to energy investments and energy trade, and the excursion lets students learn more, in-depth, about policy making in the EU for energy and climate law affairs. Students also visited the Secretariat-General of Benelux-countries in Brussels and were welcomed by the Director, and Faculty of Law alumnus, Jan Molema.

The trip was led by Asst. Prof. Ruven Fleming and Asst Prof. Lea Diestelmeier.
