Deciding to study International and European Law through the LLB offered in Groningen was an easy choice for me from the beginning. The dual nature of the degree and the fact that it is offered at Bachelor’s level make it a unique programme, since most International/European law degrees are usually at Master’s level. Looking through the extensive list and variety of courses offered during the three years of study and noticing how comprehensive the curriculum is made this a clear choice for me. Moreover, I could also not neglect the fact that the University of Groningen is an academic institution with a rich history and a reputable name, being constantly placed in Top 100 rankings in the world.

Focusing more on my experience within the Faculty of Law, I have to say that what struck me the most is how well organized everything is. We get the schedule with information on every course way in advance so there is enough time to plan. Exams are also set in stone and easy to work around so the entire experience in this programme gave me a sense of certainty. Added to this, it is fascinating to see the diversity not only amongst students, but also amongst staff. Hearing ideas, opinions from different cultures, and mentalities makes this experience even more educational. Lastly, the "do-it-yourself" way of teaching is perfect for this field since it enabled me to study at my own pace and gain valuable research, problem solving, and adaptability skills, even though help is always given by professors when needed.

The city itself cannot be compared to any other. Apart from the fact that the average age here is around 37, meaning that it is truly a young city, the rich history, beautiful architecture, and vibrant life make it a one-of-a-kind combination of old/traditional and new/modern. The international composition of its inhabitants makes it perfect for a student to enjoy his/her studies while also gaining valuable personal skills.

Life here marked me so much that I have decided to follow the LLM in Public International Law at the University of Groningen. Admission to LLMs at the UG is facilitated for LLB students, demonstrating the fact that the LLB in International and European Law forms a strong base for further law studies and prepares students for careers in a plethora of fields.
