Hardware and Software

At the Faculty of Science and Engineering, students are expected to bring their own laptop to class. This enables you to utilize the full potential of your laptop without dependence of computer labs and ensures seamless integration of your personal electronic devices for academic purposes.

Below we outlined recommendations for personal devices, based on a thorough analysis of software students are likely to use throughout their bachelor or master programme.

Your laptop has to meet the FSE minimum requirements as mentioned in the menu below. If possible, we advise you to purchase a device that meets the FSE recommended requirements.

As a student at the University of Groningen, you can use Surfspot, which provides software and hardware, but we also encourage you to explore alternative retailers.
