2025 Energy and Climate Economics and Business Days

The Centre of Energy Business and Economics Research (CEnBER) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the University of Groningen and the University of Groningen Business School (UGBS) are pleased to announce the 2025 Energy and Climate Economics and Business Days on 25 and 26 March 2025.

Leading experts, interested practitioners, PhD candidates, alumni of both FEB and UGBS, and researchers at all career levels are invited to present and discuss innovative research on energy transition and climate policy in an economic or business context.

Call for abstracts and proposals

We invite submissions of extended abstracts of papers (or full papers) that examine energy and climate in an economic or business context, broadly defined. Extended abstracts should have a word count of 500 or more.

Contributions with different methodological backgrounds (theoretical, empirical, applied, numerical, experimental and behavioral research) are welcome. Authors at all levels are invited to submit. Submissions from PhD students and postdocs are especially welcome.

We also encourage proposals for a panel discussion on energy and climate policy (in English or Dutch).

Submissions, registration and deadlines

The deadline for the submission of papers, abstracts and panel discussion proposals is December 31, 2024. Submitters will be notified of acceptance by mid-January.

The registration deadline for the conference is February 28, 2025. Please register via the registration form.

Conference Programme

The conference starts on Tuesday afternoon, March 25, and ends Wednesday March 26 at the end of the afternoon. A conference dinner is plannend for March 25.

There will be two plenary sessions, one focused on the economics of climate policy and the other on business aspects of energy transition. Both plenary sessions will have an academic keynote speaker and a discussant from government or business, followed by a plenary discussion. The speakers will be announced as soon as possible.

In addition, there will be parallel sessions, in which participants can present and discuss their work.

In between and after the sessions there will be plenty of time for networking.

Venue

Conference sessions will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Duisenberg Building at the University of Groningen’s Zernike Campus.

Costs

Registration fee for both days, including drinks, lunch, and dinner, is 75 euros.

Scientic Committee

The scientific committee in charge of organizing the sessions and reviewing submissions is composed of faculty members from the University of Groningen Faculty of Economics and Business.
