Learn Dutch

If you want to enhance your chances of finding employment in the northern region and connect to locals, learning Dutch is imperative. At Dual Career Support (DCS), we understand the importance of working on your Dutch proficiency.

Why learn Dutch?

  • Job opportunities: Increase your chances of finding employment by learning the Dutch language, a minimum level of C1 is advised.
  • Making social connections: learning Dutch will make it much easier to make friends and become engaged in Dutch activities and culture.
  • Feeling at home; learning the language of your new home country will give you a unique insight to its social practices, traditions and culture.


Levels and options

A good way to start practicing Dutch at your own time and pace is engaging in the free online course Introduction to Dutch on the UG Language Center website.You can also start by enrolling in one of the Dutch language courses of the UG Language Center.
Via the IWCN you can register for Dutch classes. IWCN also has a Dutch conversation group called Let’s talk Dutch.
The Forum Groningen offers language classes in small groups. They also have a Language Cafe where you can practice your Dutch.
The Dutch Language School for Adults offers Dutch courses to parents of students at the International School.
