Visit of ambassador of Greece
The ambassador of Greece, H.E. Caterina Ghini visited UG on July 8. President Jouke de Vries and Rector Magnificus Wijmenga welcomed her on her first visit to Groningen. UG currently has ca. 450 degree students from Greece and the Ambassador was interested to be informed on UG's strategy and more specifically learn about the career services and labour market perspectives for UG graduates. Mr. Vincent de Boer presented this to her.
Professor René Cappers demonstrated part of the reference collection at the biological archeological center, where a wealth of information is stored and can be checked regarding seeds of arable and wild plants, food production and food preparation among others in the Mediterranean and Central Asian region.
A delegation of UG staff from Greece met the ambassador and gave a brief glimpse in various projects and academic topics they are involved in, for instance the Byzantine Law research, Theatre and Arts productions and Erasmus+ projects on digital learning.
