Coimbra Group AEM meeting and symposium

Friday 8 November 2019, 9.00 – 14.00h (incl. lunch 12.30 – 14.00)
Venue: Het Kasteel (room 1.12), Melkweg 1, Groningen
On 9 November 2019 it will be 30 years since the Berlin Wall fell. In 1989 the University of Groningen (UG) acted on this historical fact by establishing official cooperation with universities in the Central European region, both at management and at academic level.
Besides this, the collaboration and activities initiated in the framework of the Coimbra Group Network (since 1985, www.coimbra-group.eu) have been a driving force for many successful projects in the European context and beyond. Since 1989 eight Central and Eastern European universities have joined the CG network and they have played a major role in numerous of these projects.
For UG, November 2019 marks an important moment to reflect on past, present and future international cooperation. For this reason we will bring together representatives of universities from the Coimbra Group network to present success stories of (almost) thirty years of collaboration between “East and West”. Academics from Coimbra Group universities will present their success stories in four sessions.
You are kindly invited to attend the symposium on Friday 8 November as well as join the lunch to celebrate 30 years of successful academic cooperation.
Members of the CG working group Academic Exchange & Mobility will meet for their regular meeting on 7 November and on 8 November in the afternoon (more info will be provided by mail).
