Thijs Bouman

Thijs Bouman is universitair docent aan de Faculteit Gedrags- & Maatschappijwetenschappen. Hij werkt binnen de vakgroep Environmental Psychology en is voornamelijk bezig met gedrag in relatie tot duurzaamheid. Bouman onderzoekt welke waarden klimaatgedrag motiveren of demotiveren. Hierbij kijkt hij naar hoe de eigen waarden van mensen zelf, en de waarden van anderen om hen heen, hun klimaatgedrag beïnvloeden. Een interessante bevinding is dat duurzaam gedrag gezien wordt als 'het juiste doen', wat leidt tot een gelukkig gevoel.

Ook is hij een van de RUG-wetenschappers die meewerkt aan het TeSoPs project. TeSoPs staat voor Technologically and Socially feasible transition Pathways for local energy system integration, en is een onderzoeksproject waarbij onderzoekers van de Faculteit Gedrags- en Maatschappijwetenschappen en de Faculteit Science and Engineering samenwerken om energiesystemen en de energietransitie te optimaliseren. Het vaak weggelaten sociale aspect wordt door Bouman belicht en geïntegreerd in dit onderzoek om energiesystemen beter te kunnen optimaliseren.
