Discovering SDGs in Your Course: A Hands-On Workshop

When:Th 20-06-2024 13:00 - 15:30
Where:House of Connections, Groningen

As centers of education and promoters of knowledge, universities play a foundational role in co-creating a sustainable future.

In line with the UN’s 2030 agenda and the proposed 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the Rudolf Agricola School aims to map these SDGs across the offered education at the University of Groningen.

To do so, the Rudolf Agricola School is testing a new tool that allows staff and students to identify which SDGs are reflected within their existing courses and programs.

Are you interested in evaluating your course in relation to the SDGs? Would you like to help us test this new tool?

By evaluating the content of university courses, staff and students can get an overview of which SDGs are represented in their courses.

The final overview can facilitate staff interested in the SDG agenda to pursue a symbiosis between course content and sustainability. Students on the other hand could choose courses that feature specific SDGs as per their own interests or career aspirations.

What are we going to do?

  • There will be an introduction on SDG’s and SDG education;

  • We will demonstrate the tool

  • In groups, we will try to analyze the courses that you want to test the tool with;

  • Afterwards we’ll have an open discussion on your experiences with the tool. What works, what doesn’t work and how can we improve it.

We invite you to bring course materials (study guides, reading materials, exercises, assignments) of courses you believe are relevant to SDG and wish to evaluate as an exercise during the workshop.

Discover which SDGs may already be represented in your courses at our upcoming workshop on June 20th. Secure your spot now or sign up to stay informed for future events on this topic!
