RAS Event - The Role and Relevance of the University in the 21st Century

When:Mo 27-10-2025 09:30 - 16:00
Where:House of Connections, Grote Markt 21, Groningen

At a time when the university is facing budget cuts, global challenges, and a rapidly changing future of work and education, it is essential that we, as academics, come together in critical conversation about our roles and responsibilities.

During this event, we will explore these questions together, with courage, hope, and resilience as our guiding principles. Through meaningful discussions, we will develop concrete actions and work towards a shared vision for the future.

Note that this event is exclusively for fellows of the Rudolf Agricola School for Sustainable Development

Why Attend?

  • Ownership and involvement: Get involved, your voice is invaluable, especially in these changing times.

  • Collaboration and networking: By coming together in small, thematic table sessions, we encourage a cross-pollination of ideas and expertise. This is crucial for developing different solution approaches to challenges within our university and beyond.

  • Building a close-knit community: In a welcoming environment where every voice counts, we work together on a shared vision for the future. This results in a shared (dream) vision document that guides policy and strategy decisions.

Program

The event will begin with an introductory session and a keynote speaker, followed by parallel table sessions with a lunch break in between, and will conclude with a reflection session and networking drinks.
