50 years of polymer chemistry at the University of Groningen
In 1967 the Department of Polymer Science (Laboratorium voor Polymeerchemie) and its educational program were officially established. With this, the University of Groningen was the first university in the Netherlands to host a department solely dedicated to polymer science.
To celebrate this long history, current Professor in Polymer Chemistry, Katja Loos together with colleagues has organized a reunion symposium held at Zernike Campus. Today, on June 30th, we will welcome many alumni, former professors and the founding father and first professor in polymer chemistry, Ger Challa, in Groningen. We wish all participants a great reunion. ScienceLinX has interviewed several (former) stakeholders of the polymer chemistry department, recently. Below the links to the interviews on the ScienceLinX page:
Emeritus Professor Ger Challa on How big molecules conquered the world
Emeritus Professor Albert Pennings on Polymers, stronger than steel
Honorary Professor Ton Loontjens on Polymer coating kills bacteria
