Tourism and Heritage
Tourism is a global force with mixed local impacts. Tourism has a central position in many national and regional plans for the assumed ‘synergy effects’ that might be achieved. These effects include: economic growth, rural service upkeep, cultural and natural heritage conservation, and strengthening regional identity. Our research in the topic area deals with the ambiguous spatial and social processes in the heritage and tourism sectors. We contribute to uncovering the growing global and local developmental role of tourism and heritage from policy and community perspectives.
