Spatial & Institutional Design
Cities and urban regions across the globe face a range of pressures and challenges, many of which come with uncertainties. These uncertainties complicate urban planning and policymaking in developing productive interventions that achieve desired outcomes. By investigating processes of spatial design - including the analysis and design of the physical environment and societal use of this environment - and institutional design - including the analysis and adjustment of rules of conduct that mediate the behaviour of and interactions between actors active in shaping spatial configurations - we aim to contribute to the responsiveness of cities in dealing with foreseen and unforeseen change.
