Section Systems Medicine of Metabolism and Signalling

The Section Systems Medicine of Metabolism and Signalling studies the regulation of energy metabolism and mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signalling in healthy and disease states. Energy metabolism and the mTOR signalling network are often deregulated in metabolic diseases, cancer and ageing. The section aims to unravel the mechanisms behind the disease states and thereby be able to predict severity of disease symptoms and new drug targets. In order to achieve this we adopt cell biology, biochemistry, proteomics, and systems biology approaches.
