Symposium on the latest developments in carbon tech
April 25, 2023
Groningen, The Netherlands
Energy Academy Building, Zernike Campus, Groningen ( for directions click here )
About the Symposium
The symposium will bring together established and emerging researchers from academia and industry to discuss the latest advances in biological and chemical CO2 utilization and to speculate on future directions for the fields. The aim for the two distinct communities is to interact, learn from each other and get inspiration on strategies to overcome technical challenges in each research field. The one-day symposium will cover various cutting edge topics in the field, focusing on technologies that use CO₂ or CO from industrial off-gases and/or CO₂ from the air as a resource to produce materials, fuels and food/feed ingredients, fueled by green energy and hydrogen. In addition to various lectures by invited experts in the field, the program will include a Speed-Dating session and a Panel discussion to enable sufficient time for exchange between participants.
Target audience
Organized by young PIs from Uni Groningen, the symposium is directed at students, PhD candidates, postdocs, PIs, and industry representatives to feature the research in the field of (but not limited to):
-
Catalyst development to produce fuels and building blocks from CO2
-
Advanced reactor technologies
-
Genetic and metabolic engineering of bacteria for C1 feedstock utilization
-
Gas fermentation
-
(Microbial) electrosynthesis
Organizing Committee
Jingxiu Xie (Engineering and Technology Institute Groningen, University of Groningen)
Sandy Schmidt (Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy, University of Groningen)
Registration
R egistration is closed.
The number of participants is limited to 100.
