Webinar | A call for participation in matchmaking for NWO National Research Agenda – Theme: Climate adaptation and health
When: | Th 04-02-2021 15:00 - 16:00 |
Where: | via ZOOM |
On 4th of February Prof. Jochen Mierau (Public Health Economist and Scientific Director Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health) and Prof. Klaus Hubacek (Chair of Integrated Research on Energy, Environment and Society (IREES) at Energy and Sustainability Research Institute Groningen (ESRIG)) will host a webinar on research opportunities for inter- and transdisciplinary climate adaptation and health research.
In Groningen we have ongoing large scale longitudinal population surveys, such as Lifelines and Prevend. Prevend is specifically oriented at diseases like Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). In recent years significant correlations between Particulate Matter exposure and diabetes type II and between Particulate Matter and CKD and ESRD have been established. Both surveys and their associated databases have not been explored for example in relation to possible correlations with Particle Matter and such effects of climate change as urban heat stress.
Goal of the upcoming meeting is to establish whether we can develop a practice-oriented research proposal on the theme ‘Climate adaptation and health: A healthy living environment for people, animals and plants in times of climate change’.
The meeting will take place via ZOOM on 4th of February from 15:00 to 16:00.
