ENTEG researchers participate in Offshore Wind Innovation Centre in Eemshaven
Professors Antonis Vakis and Bayu Jayawardhana from the Engineering and Technology Institute Groningen and Lucy Avraamidou from the Institute for Science Education and Communication are partners in a funded project coordinated by TCNN for the establishment of the Offshore Wind Innovation Centre: Transition to a bundled innovation ecosystem for the wind industry, in Eemshaven. The project brings together 19 partners who will collaborate in developing innovative solutions, products and services for operations, and maintenance applications in the offshore wind industry.
Prof. Vakis is leading the RUG team, which is responsible for the development of digital twins for use in predictive maintenance for offshore wind as well the design and implementation of professional training, educational activities, and school-curricular.
The project kicked off in October, 2020 and has a duration of 3 years. The total budget is 2,667,000 EUR and RUG’s team share is 221,000 EUR, which will be used towards financing a PhD student position.
