Opening Symposium of Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence on 1 Nov
The Johann Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (JBI) and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Engineering (ALICE) have recently merged into the Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (BI) that will combine and expand unique expertise in these disciplines available in Groningen.
The festive opening of the Bernoulli Institute (BI) will be held on 1 November, with a Symposium that will combine pitches of interdisciplinary research at the Bernoulli, poster sessions and Best Poster Award, and talks from prestigious external speakers.

9.00 - 9.30: Registration
9.30-9.45: Welcome by the Department heads
9.45-11.15: Presentations of interdisciplinary projects at the BI
11.15-11.45: Coffee break and poster session
11.45-12.30: Dr. Daniel Gebler, Industry, The next wave of machine learning - from data science to full stack ML platforms, (Picnic online supermarket, Netherlands)
12.30-13.30: Lunch and Poster session
13.30-14.00: Official opening (Rector of the University of Groningen, FSE Dean, Bernoulli Institute Director)
14.00-14.45: Prof. dr. Mark Roberts, Between Mathematics and Science, (University of Surrey, United Kingdom)
14.45-15.15: Coffee break and Poster session
15.15-16.00: Prof. dr. Antal van den Bosch, MC Turing in da house: getting creative with language models, (Radboud University, Meertens Institute, Netherlands)
16.00-16.45: Catuscia Palamidessi, New Trends in Security and Privacy , (INRIA, École Polytechnique, France)
16.45-17.00: Concluding remarks (Director of the BI) and award of the Best Poster awards, followed by drinks
