Title: Unfairness in Software Engineering

Abstract:

Fairness (and its opposite unfairness) plays a role in any process where decisions that affect others are made. For instance, unfairness negatively influences employee satisfaction and team performance at work. The problem gets critical in modern software projects, which rely on a global and diverse workforce that is more susceptible to unfairness. This talk presents Ayushi’s ongoing research to identify the manifestations of unfairness in software engineering. The speaker will present her vision to create a level playing field in software engineering, challenges ahead, and potential solutions.
