Transportation of goods on-board mv Ortelius

Please follow these guidelines for the transportation of goods from the Netherlands (and back) with the expedition vessel Ortelius

• Send in an overview of chemical items and or other dangerous goods that you want to ship with the Ortelius asap to Frits Steenhuisen
• Send in a preliminary overview of other items you want to ship with the Ortelius (as an heads up) to Frits Steenhuisen
• Goods to be transported to Longyearbyen on board of the Ortelius need to be brought to Yerseke - see below.
• Please make sure that you pack everything in solid (zarger) boxes that are waterproof and sturdy. The equipment will be stored on the heli deck during transit, that is roofed in (partly with a sail) but may be a bit moist and fluctuating in temperature.
• All packages must be numbered and marked on all sides. Use THIS format.

• We need a detailed Pro-forma Invoice and PACKING LIST for custums: you need to list all the items you pack in the boxes. An excel sheet will be send by you by email. Bring this list with you when you bring your equipment to WMR and also e-mail this list to Frits Steenhuisen

• If you want to lock your box than please use a combination lock and write the number of the lock in the packing list.

• We will take care of the transport of all equipment from WMR to the Ortelius in Vlissingen. The equipment on-board of the mv Ortelius will be stored secured and dry, but unheated. Please note that the equipment will be loaded in May when the Ortelius is in dock in Zeeland and will stay on-board during all Spitsbergen cruises until the SEES expedition in August.
• If you wish to have equipment shipped back to the Netherlands after the expedition, prepare the (amended) packing lists beforehand. Please note that the Ortelius will be back in Zeeland around end of September before you can retrieve your equipment.

Planning of the delivery of your research material to Wageningen Marine Research (WMR), Yerseke:

• If you plan to deliver your equipment in Yerseke between 1-9 May, please arrange this with Pim van Dalen (WMR, pim.vandalen@wur.nl) with a CC to Martine van den Heuvel-Greve (WMR, martine.vandenheuvel-greve@wur.nl)
• If you plan to deliver your equipment in Yerseke between 9-20 May, please arrange this with Martine van den Heuvel-Greve (WMR, martine.vandenheuvel-greve@wur.nl) with a CC to Pim van Dalen (WMR, pim.vandalen@wur.nl)
• Unfortunately, equipment can only be delivered during normal week days (not on holidays or during weekends).

We need all to have all your equipment ultimately 20 May at WMR in Yerseke as we plan to bring everything on-board of the Ortelius around 23 May
