About the expedition

The SEES expedition is organised by the Arctic Centre and financed with the support of the Netherlands Polar Programme of NWO, the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Oceanwide Expeditions.

To make the most out of our expedition, we expect all on board to be patient, flexible and understanding. Be aware that we are depended on weather and wild life conditions.

Maarten Loonen will be the scientific leader on board and will work in close cooperation with the captain, the expedition leader and the guides.

The captain is in charge with regards to safety on board. The expedition leader Jan Belgers is responsible for safety in the zodiacs and on land.

For the selected participants the costs for staying on board of the Ortelius will be covered. Transportation to and from Longyearbyen and accomodation costs in Longyearbyen need to be arranged and paid for by the participants themselves.
