traffic law

During the third Public Academy for the Judiciary, traffic law is the central theme.

The courtroom is about the truth and nothing but the truth. That is, it should be and is intended to be. But what if the truth is cutting edge?

Dagblad van het Noorden journalist Rob Zijlstra reads a story as an intro to show what emotions can come into play. Alex Harteveld, attorney general of the Supreme Court and honorary lecturer in criminal law (University of Groningen) then discusses the legal aspects of traffic law. Jan Eland, chief public prosecutor (OM) will use real-life examples to highlight the social side.

The Public Academy for Jurisprudence

Through lectures aimed at the general public, the Publieksacademie voor de Rechtspraak (Public Academy for Jurisprudence) seeks to satisfy this immense interest. Judges, public prosecutors, professors and other experts discuss legal topics that affect many people. The lectures are suitable for a wide audience and do not require knowledge of the law.

The Public Academy is a collaboration between the Court of the Northern Netherlands, the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen, the Northern Netherlands Public Prosecution Service and the Dagblad van het Noorden newspaper.
