Jean Monnet funding for Prof. Ramses Wessel for research on European diplomacy

A proposal on the legal constraints and opportunities for the European Union to further its ambitions as an international diplomatic actor has been selected by the European Commission. This project will be led by Prof. Ramses Wessel (European Law) in a network including the Universities of Leuven, Pisa and Geneva. For the coming three years this network aims to study the European Union’s diplomatic activities throughout the world, in third states as well as in international organizations. The new network, EUDIPLO, will also strengthen cooperation between senior and junior staff at the four universities and will involve practitioners as well as partners in Africa, Asia, North America, Latin America and Oceania, as well as in a number of neighbouring states.
Ramses already participates in another Jean Monnet network (with Salamanca, Rome, Paris, Oslo and VU Amsterdam) on legal questions of European integration. Part of the latter network is the journal on law and integration European Papers.
