Faculty to host European Law Faculties Association conference this week

12 April 2016

The Faculty of Law will proudly host the 21st conference of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) this week, from April 13th to 15th. The conference theme is 'Sustainable Law and Sustainable Legal Education', and will begin with a Keynote Address by Professor Sabino Cassese, an Emeritus Justice of the Italian Constitutional Court and a Professor at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa.

Speaking today, Prof. Dr. Laurence Gormley, Professor of European Law and current ELFA President, said, “It is wonderful to host this prestigious conference at Groningen, with so many extremely distinguished speakers. ELFA is a dynamic organization with a great history, and it has been a tremendous privilege for me to serve as President of ELFA at a time when I also celebrate 25 years of tenure of my Chair here. I look forward to a really productive and stimulating conference”.

While the conference reception, lunches, and dinner are for registered participants only, the plenaries and panel sessions are open to the public if seating is available, in which case interested students and staff are welcome to attend.
