Dimitry Kochenov expert EU enlargement for Foreign and Commonwealth Office UK
Prof. Dimitry Kochenov (EU Constitutional Law) submitted expert evidence to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (UK) on the distribution of competences between the Member States and EU institutions in the field of EU Enlargement, during a visit to FCO in March. The final FCO report is now available, citing the evidence submitted.
The most crucial point made by Prof. Kochenov is that the regulation of EU enlargements should be shielded from irresponsible behaviour of certain governments (like the Greek one) hijacking the process, thereby harming the credibility of the European Commission and undermining the outcomes.
