LLM in Energy and Climate Law
Programme requirements
In order to obtain an LLM degree in Energy and Climate Law a candidate must successfully complete a total of 60 ECTS:
a. Five compulsory courses:
- Climate Law (6 ECTS)
- Economics of Regulation (6 ECTS)
- Energy Law and Policy (6 ECTS)
- Energy Market Law (6 ECTS)
- Energy Investment and Trade Law (6 ECTS)
b. One optional compulsory course (choose 1 of 2; 6 ECTS):
- European Environmental Law in a Global Context
- International Environmental Law
c. The seminar 'Seminar in Energy and Climate Law' (6 ECTS)
d. A Law in Practice module (6 ECTS)
e. Master’s thesis (12 ECTS)

Programme structure
The programme consists of six courses (minimum), a seminar, a Law in Practice module and the writing of a Master’s thesis. The programme requires one year, full-time to complete.
Exchange period in the first semester (Fall term), as exchange student:
- Climate Law (6 ECTS)
- Economics of Regulation (6 ECTS)
- Energy Law and Policy (6 ECTS)
- Energy Market Law (6 ECTS)
- Seminar in Energy and Climate Law (6 ECTS)
LLM completion in the second semester as registered regular LLM student (Winter/Spring term), after graduation at home university:

Energy Investment and Trade Law (6 ECTS)
- An optional compulsory course (either European Environmental Law in a Global Context or International Environmental Law; 6 ECTS)
- Law in Practice (6 ECTS)
- Master’s thesis (12 ECTS
