Prof. Dr. Hanri Mostert
Professor Hanri Mostert (BA LLB LLM LLD (Stell)) is a member of the Department of Private Law at the University of Cape Town’s Law Faculty. She is also visiting professor at the Department of Private Law at the University of Groningen. Her teaching and research interests focuses on the public law aspects of property law, in particular how they relate to matters of land and minerals. The major underlying theme of her research concerns the role of engaged citizenship as an aspect of responsibility in the governance of land and minerals. She emphasizes the state’s duty in achieving better living standards and ensuring freedom of its subjects in the property law context. She comments on the achievements of the judiciary in building a society that subscribes to the notions of accountability and dependability in property law.
