Prof. Dr. G.P. Mifsud Bonnici
Jeanne Pia Mifsud Bonnici is a Rosalind Franklin Fellow and holds a Chair in European Technology Law and Human Rights at the Department of European and Economic Law, Faculty of Law, University of Groningen, The Netherlands. She holds two doctorates in law (from the University of Malta and the University of Groningen, The Netherlands) and a Masters’ degree in Cognitive Science (from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom). Her teaching and research focus on the intersection of two broad areas of law: European Technology Law, that is, the body of European rules regulating technology markets and technology-driven rules providing for areas impacted by technology and fundamental human rights. She is currently involved in two European Union funded FP7 projects. One project, CONSENT, looks into consumer privacy issues in online user-generated content services (such as Facebook, Hyves etc.). The other project, SMART, researchesthe privacy and data protection implications of smart surveillance technologies.
