Film - El Equipo
This impressive documentary shows how science became a pillar of a universal fight for human rights. The story begins in the 1980s, when a group of Argentine students decide to help legendary forensic scientist Clyde Snow with his research into the desaparecidos - the thousands of people who “disappeared” during the Argentine dictatorship in the years before.
With success, as this team is called upon around the world in the decades that follow to dig for the truth behind massacres and mass graves, from Kurdistan to Ethiopia to the horrific El Mozote massacre in El Salvador. Everywhere the scientists manage to uncover the truth, but it is not without danger.
Afterword
After the screening, there will be a post-screening discussion. PhD candidate Welmoet Wels, who is researching the international legal framework for the treatment of dead bodies in armed conflict, will be present to answer questions and share insights.
