The Board of the University of Groningen has appointed Dr Indira van der Zande as vice-dean of Campus Fryslân from 1 January 2025. The faculty board, consisting of dean Prof Tjalling Halbertsma, managing director Drs Piet Bouma and student-assessor Teddy Lagerweij, sees the appointment as a further strengthening of the faculty.

Dr Indira van der Zande joined Campus Fryslân in 2017, serving as associate professor of Transformative Education & Applied Ethics and director of education. Until 2023, she was director of University College Fryslân where, under her inspiring leadership, the Global Responsibility & Leadership programme was awarded the quality seal top rated program every year and was named the best rated programme in the Netherlands several times, including in 2025.

Dean Prof Tjalling Halbertsma says of the appointment: ‘It is important for the faculty that we can now also welcome a vice-dean to the Board of Campus Frysân. The fact that Indira van der Zande is taking on this role is especially good news. With all her expertise and her great commitment, I am confident that Campus Fryslân will have another good year full of new milestones'.

'I am incredibly honoured by the appointment and by the opportunity to further guide the education portfolio of our beautiful Campus. In this position, I look forward to collaborating with the other board members and I am committed to represent the diverse voices of our community in places of decision-making. Next to that, I am excited to strengthening the cooperation with partners inside and outside the UG,' concludes Indira van der Zande.
