UG response to vandalism at University Library
In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the walls and windows of the University Library were covered with texts such as ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘We will escalate’. Some windows were also broken.
The Board of the University condemns these acts of vandalism, and asks everyone, precisely in these difficult times, to remain in dialogue, with respect for each other's circumstances and perspectives. President of the Board of the University Jouke de Vries: ‘Acts of vandalism and threats do not, in our opinion, contribute in any way to finding solutions for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On the contrary, such actions strengthen polarization and are completely at odds with the core values of our University.’
The UG offers students and staff various options for finding help in these difficult times.
